SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY POLICY
Element Consulting Engineers are committed to improving the quality of life for all South Africans by promoting environmental friendly engineering excellence.
The Directors support the principles of Corporate Governance as recommended in the King III 2009 Report, which places Company sustainability and risk management alongside profit at the core of a Board of Director's responsibilities.
There are five components to our Social and Environmental Responsibility Policy namely:

To provide professional engineering services of the highest standard by employing the best staff and equipment, and controlling the quality of our work continuously.
Excellence depends on a number of crucial factors, which include productivity, flexibility, efficiency, and effectiveness.
Quality control and management is the critical element in achieving the above. Since receiving ISO 9001 certification in 2007, we based our Quality management system on the ISO 9001 standards which cover the methodology and checking of designs, drawings, documentation, report standards and costing systems. The company is also registered with CESA (Consulting Engineers South Africa). This is advantageous for clients, since it offers piece of mind that an ethical code will be maintained and that a professional service of the highest quality will be rendered.
Element Consulting Engineers is proud to be a member of the Green Building Council of South Africa. This is a token of our comitment to promote,encourage and facilitate Green Engineering, building design and implementation in the South African property and construction industry through marked-based solutions.
The company carries Professional Indemnity Insurance cover to protect the client in the unlikely event that design or other related problems may occur. We also believe in the Principles of Resilience Engineering which, in case of errors or disaster, allows for a backup or reserve safety margin in the design and maintenance of systems.

We uphold the ethical principles contained in the Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA) Code of Conduct. Client Care means that we are prepared to walk the extra mile. We are committed to continuously improve customer service levels by nurturing a culture of excellent service and creativity.
To design and manage the implementation of projects in such a manner as to minimize the ‘carbon footprint’ environmental impact, by minimizing energy consumption, waste generation, water consumption and ecological disturbance.
Element Consulting Engineers is a member of the Green Building Council of South Africa and actively promotes the aims of green engineering and architecture, including ensuring optimal energy efficiency, sustainability in construction, use and maintenance, recycling and minimizing the carbon footprint throughout the entire life cycle of the end product. We believe that Sustainable Development will only be possible with Green Engineering, and Value adding, being the catalysts.
To undertake projects in cooperation with communities in order to meet their needs and aspirations and to provide employment opportunities which contribute towards the overall benefit of the country.
The company is skilled in ensuring that communities participate in, and benefit from, the planning and construction of works by supporting the principle of democratic and transparent planning and delivery processes. The company supports the concept of Affirmative Action to empower previously disadvantaged persons by either employing them as staff, or using targeted procurement and Joint ventures, for the development , construction and maintenance of projects. Element Consulting Engineers' contribution to Social welfare consists of regular support of various Charities, and Community assistance schemes.

- Element supports ongoing professional and personal development through the attendance of workshops, seminars and Conferences.
- Element encourage all staff members to register with the relevant institute, for engineering mostly with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa).
- Element has consistently followed a non-discriminatory policy of staff recruitment and development. By actively seeking candidates for bursaries, and through the transfer of skills, this policy has provided many opportunities to individuals from disadvantaged communities. As part of the company’s empowerment policy a Black Employee Trust, which has shares in Element Consulting Engineers, has been created.
